 | Men's Group w. Tahil Gesyuk - Oakland 07:00 PM » 10:00 PM | | | Wed Nov 11 7-10pm
2nd Wednesday of the month
Tahil Gesyuk would like to extend an invitation to you to join his monthly Men's Group.
This group is founded on a vision of masculinity “without” false bravado but rather an ownership of one's masculine essence. In contrast to other men's groups, we embrace the challenging of one another that naturally happens in the company of men while not disregarding human dignity and respect. We journey together as a brotherhood in unraveling and healing the wounds of men a cultured within us.
*We utilize chi kung, tai chi, oriental and ayervedic systems to penetrate the mysteries of ourselves and the partners we love or will one day.
*We utilize the technologies of compassionate communication, N.V.C. and Co-counseling. In this we accelerate our absorption and connection with one another.
*We journey along the chakra system (from an ayervedic system of health that parallels the endocrine system). Each chakra is a universe of how we express ourselves and receive the world around us. *We utilize what I call life medicine and heart-work. In between meeting we work with result oriented actions that are then shared with the group.
*We will be meeting for TBD group outing and getaways to have fun and just be Guys.
If this is something that resonates with you or you feel curious don’t hesitate to come or contact. The men that gravitate to the group are of all ages and status backgrounds.

with music by:
BECKY WHITE & THE SECRET MISSION CLAN DYKEN STITCHCRAFT and special guests
Becky White brings her band the Secret Mission and fellow committed musicians together in a fundraiser to help the Native American resistance to coal mining on Big Mountain in Arizona’s Black Mesa. Music will uplift spirits, and a slide show and information tables will provide background on the struggle for indigenous rights, this time a Caravan of Solidarity to converge on Black Mesa Nov. 21-28.
Becky White and the Secret Mission are doing a series of shows in California, Oregon, and Arizona to raise funds for the Caravan of Solidarity. White weaves tales of past, present, and future into a new style she calls “mystic world folk” – indie, Americana, South Asian, and reggae-influenced original music with danceable rootsy beats and memorable lyrics. The Secret Mission incorporates global instrumentation such as the Australian didgeridoo, Indian tabla (drums), esraj (similar to sitar), Arabic tambourine, African djembe, Latin percussion, and more. White is also a naturalist with a degree in conservation biology and a co-founder of the Oxygen Collective (www.o2collective.org). Her understanding of ecology informs her songwriting. Her grassroots activist background has inspired her to sing out for peace and justice in the middle of logging roads, on sacred native land in trees, and in the streets. www.beckywhitemusic.org
From Calaveras County, Clan Dyken has devoted more than 20 years to playing its tribal-funk-eco-folk-rock-hippy-soul music in service to peace, social justice, and saving the environment. From the Nevada Nuclear Test Site to the Livermore Lab, Headwaters Forest, and Black Mesa, Clan Dyken has been on the front lines with its music. In 1992 the group recorded the first completely solar-powered album. Wavy Gravy calls them “One of the greatest rock and roll bands in the free world.” www.clandyken.com
The members of StitchCraft chose their name to reflect the patchworks of meaning in their stories and the intricately woven rhythms of their music. Combining eclectic instrumentation with intricate string and vocal arrangements, the San Francisco plays a dynamic array of music, from lyrical ballads to driving, powerful anthems to genre-bending, world music-inspired folk fusion. StitchCraft is involved in the Bay Area’s sustainable music movement, contributing to and performing in the Bicycle Music Festival. Bandleaders and singers Heather Normandale (guitar, mandolin, banjo) and Anna Perlmutter (violin, accordion, bells) are joined by cellist Joshua Stacy and Andrew Maguire on percussion, marimba, bells, and whistles. www.stitchcraftmusic.com
Activist-musician Trever Jones of Ashland, Oregon, sings his original blues-folk-country songs. Originally inspired by the music of Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, and Utah Phillips, he continues to use music as a force for change while incorporating guitar rhythms to make listeners dance. www.myspace.com/treverajones
Proceeds from this fundraiser concert go to Black Mesa Indigenous Support, which organized the Caravan of Solidarity to support the Elders of Black Mesa in the Dineh Nation, Arizona. The Caravan brings together supporters from around the country to work at Black Mesa Nov. 21-28. Black Mesa Indigenous Support states: “We are excited to inform you that a caravan of work crews will once again be converging from across the country in support of residents of the Big Mountain regions of Black Mesa. On behalf of their peoples, their sacred ancestral lands and future generations, these communities continue to carry out a staunch resistance to the efforts of the US Government, which is acting in the interests of the Peabody Coal Company, to devastate whole communities and ecosystems and greatly de-stabilize our planet’s climate for the profit of an elite few.” www.blackmesais.org
