 | The Butterflies on San Bruno Mountain Need Your Help - Brisbane | | | Tue Jan 19 7:30 pm
The Brisbane City Council has a chance to Reject an Obsolete Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that allows Brookfield Homes to build on Callippe Silverspot habitat, putting the species at grave risk. Nearly all the pieces are in place to allow Brookfield Homes to use a 26 year-old Environmental Impact Report to allow and justify further habitat destruction. However, the Brisbane City Council can review the facts and has an opportunity to reject a 26 year-old Environmental Impact Report that is based on comparisions with the past instead of consideration of the present and the future. The Callippe Silverspot is now down to 2% of it's original habitat. The planned development will decrease its habitat and isolate what is left, which scientists agree will eventually lead to their extinction.
Write the Council Members a letter urging a "No" vote More Info at www.mountainwatch.org/burnpile/ner_2009/actions-email-php.html
